Look for Less: J. Crew peacoat

I first came across this coat from J. Crew while on Tumblr and fell in love with the black contrast trim. I'm not usually a fan of white outerwear but with the classic look and trim of this coat, I figured it would make for a perfect fall/winter 'statement' coat.

While browsing through Forever 21's site, I came across an almost exact replica of the J. Crew coat except this one has pockets (and is way more inexpensive).

Floral Shorts + Red Heart

Even though it's technically fall/autumn, it sometimes feels more like a hot summer day in Southern California with temperatures being in the high 90's. The only good thing about this is that I get to wear my favorite floral shorts. I bought these at Forever 21 two years ago and I still love them; one reason is because they are incredibly comfortable. I like to pair them with a simple top to make the shorts the focal point of the outfit. And to top it off, I wore my heart necklace that I purchased from the 'happiest place on earth', Disneyland!

Pardon My French

These are the items I'm currently wishing for. Everyone needs a perfect boot for fall/winter and my style is a good riding boot. I love this one from DSW because it's sleek and the perfect brown color and I love the buckle details. The polka dot pants are just a perfect way to add a little 'fun' to an outfit and I thought they would go perfectly with the playfulness of the 'Pardon my French' sweater.

To add a little warmth, I choose a plaid jacket. Even though there's already a polka dot print, adding another print like plaid doesn't clash because it's subtle and dark. I prefer this blazer from Target (rather than the UO one). I'm in love with the sleek blag bag from ShoeDazzle. I just think it's thee perfect black bag for everyday, and I added a touch of color to the entire outfit by adding a pink stoned statement necklace from BaubleBar.

Green, leopard and lace.

This is yesterday's outfit but I didn't get a chance to post last night. I'm not really a t-shirt wearing type of girl but I like this one because it's a little more "dressed up" because of the lace detailing up on top, and it is incredibly soft and comfortable. To give the look some color I added some green pants and leopard flats to add a little dimension.

top and pants: H&M, flats: Old Navy, earrings: Banana Republic

What's your tip to adding a little extra something to a simple outfit?

Burgundy + Stripes

I figured I'd add a new section to my blog and start including 'outfit of the day' posts (just to make it a bit more personal). Now, I don't have a great quality camera or iPhone/smartphone so my little Samsung Brightside phone will do for now. For today's outfit I'm wearing my all-time favorite shirt. I probably wear this top more than I should but that's because I LOVE stripes and I love the boat neck/classic look of this top.

Beauty Products: What I want Now

When it comes to makeup, I'm a 'keep it simple' type of girl; blush, mascara and under-eye concealer is all I need. But that doesn't mean I don't like variety. Blush is the one product that I like to experiment with. I'm a firm believer that with the perfect color you can get that 'yes, this is my natural and oh so pretty flush.'

The first product that I've been aching to try is Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in 'Natural Beauty.' Tarte describes this color as a 'muted strawberry red,' and I describe it as the perfect natural looking flush color AND perfect for that wind kissed fall/winter flush look.

This next color is not necessarily 'fall/winter exclusive' but it makes for a great year-round blush, and it is NARS Luster. Estee from essiebutton turned me on to this blush because she described it as: "the perfect blend between peachy apricot and gold" that works well in winter and summer.

Now, this next product isn't a blush but a lipstick. I'm a fan of everything Tarte and when I saw this lipstick I figured it would be thee perfect fall color. The color is called Wild (a cool red) from their Glamazon Pure Performance 12 hour lipstick collection.

Dripping in...jewels

I've been on a little hiatus from this blog for a long while, but I'm back and thought I'd dedicate my post to...JEWELRY. I've been on a jewelry kick recently and find myself scouring the web for pretty baubles.

When it comes to jewelry I take the minimalist approach; I like my jewelry to blend with what I'm wearing and not necessarily be the focal point (although I do love a good statement necklace from time to time), and that is why I like dainty, more understated pieces. At the same time, I like my baubles to be somewhat unique and eye catching.

One of my favorite sites to find this type of jewelry is at Shop Lately. They carry an amazing selection of jewelry as well as handbags and accessories, and they also have something for everyone as they have a number of different 'shops' to purchase jewelry from depending on your personal style.

My favorite is Glint and Gleam. This shop carries what I like --dainty jewelry, but all the little details make their pieces unique (and might I mention, incredibly affordable).

Here are some of my favorite picks:
